Launchpad Academy held a seminar on “Cross World Consumer Insights” at a NUST in collaboration with Brand Pakistan. The seminar attended by a large number of professionals, startups, business leaders, students & academia. The objective of the seminar was to look at how consumers perceive & think about brands. The key note speaker Prof Dr. Russell Belk, world’s renowned authority on Consumer behavior from York University Canada, gave a insightful presentation on how consumers on different continents have different perceptions about the same campaign & why it is important for brands thinking globally to fine tune their brands according to local sensibilities. He gave some classic examples of perception mistakes committed by global brands & also talked about the impact of social media on branding perceptions and how the power has shifted from the marketer to the consumer.
Mr. Moqeem ul Haq Chief Strategy Officer of Ufone, talked about the changing mediascape & the new opportunities emerging due to social media. He also talked about the importance of qualitative research especially going out and actually experiencing consumer lifestyles & deriving insights from that as opposed to the traditional quantitative survey model.
Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar, Chairman of Rastgar Engineering and CBI expert for the Netherland Government, gave a brief & very interesting presentation on how Pakistani components & products are found in some of the biggest global names such as Bombardier aircraft & the recently inaugurated Shanghai bullet train.
